3. CENTRAL COMMITTEE

The Institute is committed to exhibit best practice in all aspects of academic and non academic spheres. It has aim to carry out co-curricular and extracurricular activities for bringing out the hidden talent of the students. Every year the Central Committee is formed to smooth conduct of different events for the students and by the students.

The central committee comprises of:

President – principal of the Institute

Vice-president – coordinating all the events

Six staff advisors for various activities

General Secretary (GS)

Ladies Representative (LR)

Two Cultural Secretaries (CS)

Sports Secretary (SS)

Class Representative from all Departments (CR)

Selection of Office Bearers:

Vice–president of the central Committee is nominated by the Principal amongst the various Head of Departments (HoD).

The staff advisors are decided during the meeting of HoDs with Principal.

All class representatives are selected in their individual departments.

A meeting of all class representatives is called and selection / election is done for General Secretary, Ladies Representative, Cultural Secretaries and Sports Secretary.

Activities & Funding:

The funding for all the activities is provided by the Institute management.

Series of co-curricular, sports and cultural activities are planned and organized by central committee throughout the year.

Various competitions are organized on different themes for students and the prizes are distributed to winners on annual day celebrations.

Every year Annual day of the Institute is also organized by central committee. Thus students are motivated to participate in various programs.

8. COUNSELING COORDINATORS

Guidelines for Counselors:

1.

A batch of students, as suggested by the Head of the Department is allotted to teaching faculty of the Institute, known as Counselor.

2.

Counselor should conduct at least three meetings per semester with the students.

3.

Counselor should take care of their student’s batch for academic interests and support them for improvement.

4.

Counselor should encourage students for extracurricular activities within the institute and at University level.

5.

Counselor should interact with parents in case of irregular student.

6.

Counselor should maintain records of all the meetings held with students/ parents.

7.

Counselor should update counseling files for the batch of students regularly.

8.

Counselor should bring updated counseling file during every meeting held by Coordinator / Principal.

9.

Counselor should enquire about the students financial backgrounds, and provide necessary information especially to financially weaker students regarding bank loans, scholarships availability or any other resources.

10.

Counselor should note down the students expectations from the Department, Institute and forward them to the concerned authorities.

11.

Every Department has to conduct Open House meeting per semester.

2.

3 quotations are obtained and based on lowest quotation; order is placed by HoD after proper scrutiny.

Chemicals and other consumables in Lab of Chemistry Department

1.

Rate contract is finalized by CVM management every year.

2.

After ascertaining requirements through HoD of the concerned department, order is placed on CVM’s approved vendor through stores department of ISTAR.

Equipments

1.

After receiving specific requirements from HoD, minimum 3 quotations are obtained from established supplier and order is placed on technically acceptable and price wise (lowest) after obtaining prior approval from CVM management and scrutiny by the Purchase Committee of ISTAR.

13. GRIEVANCE CELL

The Institute of Science and Technology for Advanced Studies and Research (ISTAR) has established Grievance Cell (GC) in Academic Year 2013-2014 to develop an organizational framework to resolve grievances of students, parents and other stakeholders.

The Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) is established under the Grievance Cell for the purpose of redressal of grievances of the Students, Parents and Others. The objectives of GRC are:

• To redress the students’ grievances.
• To ensure transparency in admission
• To coordinate between students and department to redress the grievances.
• To mediate between students and teachers
