It was my immense luck and fortune to be the part of Surface Coating Technology (SCT) Department, ISTAR where I got lots of opportunities. With an attitude of being ever ready to help, and not only delivering classroom teachings, but they are also the pillars of the Surface Coating Technology (SCT) Department. The knowledge I get from SCT department is very useful and help me to excel in my career.
My two years at SCT Department have been a wonderful experience of learning with prolific exposure to outside. A huge respect, love and devotion for entire faculty members for giving their efforts to make me count myself into better professionals. I am thankful to faculties for providing huge knowledge of coatings. These Two paragraphs are not enough to explain the experience of college life but those where the most beautiful and memorable days.

Surface Coating Technology (SCT) has designed course in such a way that it prepares young minds to begin their career in various fields like Production, Research & Development, Quality control in Paint as well as Construction Chemical industry. It guides our journey forward that will never stop.
I dedicate my success to Surface Coating Technology (SCT) department, ISTAR. is not a safety net. It is the rocket which will propel you towards success. All you have to do is have an aim and work on everything that takes to get a lift-off.

Studying at Surface Coating Technology (SCT) was a wholesome experience, the faculty is learned, and the courses are detailed. The course structure is designed for the students to experience the theoretical as well as the laboratory experiments. The labs are well designed and well equipped with the latent technologies. Dr. Kalpesh and Dr. Mayank have helped me gain the utmost knowledge in the field and supported me in getting better exposure. The research project helped me find out my area of interest and allowed me to follow my path and move to the US to pursue my dreams. The career opportunities at ISTAR were good with a good portfolio of organizations that hire from the greatest university. The faculty has been incredibly supportive and always available throughout the course and even after I graduated.
The course MSc in Surface Coating Technology has helped me make my base very strong and it only happened with the proper guidance and contacts of Dr. Kalpesh. He connected me to the head of the department at EMU to get me more understanding of the course structure and I was able to get admission at Eastern Michigan University (USA) for my second masters in the field and secure a job in the States.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Kalpesh and Dr. Mayank for their support and direction in seeing my potential and bringing me to pushing me to achieve greater heights.

After completing Graduation from Industrial Chemistry I did my Post Graduation in Paints and Varnish. Post this Joined Kansai Nerolac Paints and worked in Various Departments like – Powder Coating Production, Analytical Lab, Production Engineering and Paint Production. Also was instrumental in various Green Field and Improvement Projects.
About ISTAR:
I think the highly qualified professors and curriculum has contributed to developing one of the most rigorous pedagogy systems at ISTAR Paint and Varnish Department. Some students may feel the pinch of it for the two years, but its rewards are what we realize when we appear in our final placements, and into our Industrial jobs.
I gained an understanding of Paint Basics and Process involved. So in a way, what we study in our courses, had atleast theoretically prepared me to face industrial Challenges.

I completed my M.Sc. (SCT) 2004 & later on in 2011 did Ph.D. My respected grandfather was a doyen in Gujarat’s leading paint industries & my beloved father who is in the paint business since last 40 years. We owe numerous small scale paint industries in Gujarat and have donated ‘Gold Medal’ to SCT dept. Technology and time moved very fast and to maintain PACE with them one needs utmost patience and keenness to acquire accumenship in the subject.
These human bondage skills I learned from teachers at ISTAR, who besides imparting knowledge of the subject taught us to be humble & calm at critical times. I learned a lot about how to do the tasks as well as how to apply the knowledge I gained in my classes. The connection between my course work and my research allowed for a great learning experience. My Ph.D guide Dr. A.K.Digheamalgate the knowledge of chemical engineering and paint technology in an acumen manner. He acquaint us personality development and apart from teaching many subjects to give competitive edge. Now I got an added advantage to deliver the students an adequate knowledge of paint technology when I give lectures as visiting faculty at ISTAR.
And, like many others, I made wonderful friends and connections with folks that remain to this day.

Carrying strong and focused desires to build my career in coating technology and with plenty of expectations and ambitious dreams in my mind, I opted to pursue M.Sc. in paint technology at ISTAR in 1999. The open culture and excellent faculties at ISTAR truly steered my journey in coating technology to truly live my ambitious dream. Ever since then, I have been cherishing my profession and the field of coating technology throughout my career in different capacities of manufacturing, research, teaching and mentoring. During my exposure in the industry at national and international platforms I have always felt the immense contribution of the strong foundation laid at ISTAR which helped me to keep contributing the industry with innovative solutions.
